Chateau Rauzan Gassies Margaux
Price: CallDescription:
Appellation Margaux, France
Grape varieties Cabernet Franc 10%, Cabernet Sauvignon 65%, Merlot 25%.
Introduction
Owned by the Quié family since 1946 (and split from its vineyard mate Rauzan-Segla some 200 years previously), this Second Growth’s style is more concentrated and slightly heavier than is common in Margaux. Of the 2009, Steven Tanzer’s International Wine Center opined, “… dense, thick and serious.” Seriously delicious, that is.
Tasting notes
Eyes: Dark Purple.
Nose: Medium-High Intensity, developing, violets, licorice, oak.
Mouth: Medium-Full Bodied, dry, medium acidity, heavy tannin, long finish with black currant, plum, leather aromas.
This Bordeaux wine goes marvellously well with grilled meats and cheese.
